Not a Story, more an enquiry!

I am researching my family history and have discovered that a number of my relatives on my paternal grandmother’s family (Surname Alp) emigrated to Australia between 1850 and 1911. They mostly settled in Victoria but one, John Robert Alp (born in Collingwood, Melbourne in 1858 – my first Australian born relative!) moved his family (wife and seven children) to Western Australia. That was around 1901/1902 and they settled in Mt Helena, 25 kms east of Perth. One of the children, Florrie Matilda Alp (born 1896 in Essendon, Victoria and my 2nd cousin twice removed) married William Thomas Curtis in 1922. I have found them in the 1934 Electoral Roll living with William’s brother Alfred Gordon Curtis and his wife Reta Elizabeth in Tenindewa. Both of the men are listed as Farmers. There is a small difference in the entry for Florrie Matilda Curtis which says “Bindu via Tenindewa” Having found your website, which I found fascinating, I think that may be the school? I would be very interested to find out anything you may have on the Curtis family – William died in 1945 recorded in Geraldton and I think that Florrie moved back to the Perth area. They had three children, the first, Rae Flossie, in 1928 was born in Cottesloe which I can see is 450 kms south of Tenindewa which seems odd. I don’t have any birth places for the other two, Marion Joy (b 1931) and John Lawson (b 1936) Sorry for mis-using your Story facility!

Many thanks John Temple

John,

If you contact me via anthony.critch@gmail.com I think I may be able to help you a little.

The people that purchased that farm still own it to this day and Kevin Weir is still living there
He has excellent memory for history
